Product Category Manager

Full-time, Permanent

Hybrid role with occasional travel to our offices in Bristol, London & Manchester

The Role

At Bupa Dental Care our Product Category Managers lead the strategy and execution for high-impact categories including implants, orthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry – unlocking growth opportunities, driving performance, and bringing innovation that transforms both patient and clinician experiences.

Acting as a key interface between internal teams and external suppliers, the role ensures the delivery of compelling, customer-focused product ranges and continuous commercial and customer improvements across the product category.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and tactical ownership of your product category, developing the category strategy and roadmap to drive long-term growth and commercial success.
  • Act as the senior subject matter expert for the category, using data, customer insight, and market intelligence to shape decision-making and innovation.
  • Lead the development and execution of category plans that deliver against key business KPIs, including revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and market share.
  • Take full accountability for the end-to-end product lifecycle including introduction of new products and services and in-life management of existing products and services.
  • Own, track and report on category performance KPIs – understand and work to improve key commercial performance metrics including cost, margin and customer experience.
  • Champion a customer-first approach, using qualitative and quantitative insight to improve experience, drive advocacy, and inform product development.
  • Influence and collaborate effectively across the organisation, ensuring alignment with Marketing, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Clinical teams.
  • Build and manage strategic supplier and partner relationships to drive value, quality, innovation, and cost efficiency.
  • Own pricing and promotional strategy for the category, underpinned by rigorous commercial and competitor analysis.
  • Lead and inspire cross-functional teams (both direct and matrix), fostering a high-performance culture and developing capability across the functions.
Skills/Experience
  • Strong experience in a product, category, or commercial management role, ideally within a customer-focused or service-led environment; these roles will focus specifically on one of the following areas: implants and complex oral surgery, clear aligners and orthodontics, or cosmetic dentistry. Healthcare or clinical exposure is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategies that meet evolving customer needs, drive differentiation, and translate vision into high-quality service delivery.
  • Commercially confident – able to balance customer value, operational delivery, and financial performance in line with brand standards and business goals.
  • An effective and engaging communicator who can influence, challenge, and collaborate across multiple levels and functions.
  • Strategic thinker with a practical mindset – focused on outcomes, solutions, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong team orientation, with a collaborative approach and a focus on creating a positive, inclusive working environment.
  • Experienced in navigating regulated environments and understanding the importance of quality, compliance, and governance.
  • Skilled in working within matrixed organisations, bringing teams together and aligning efforts to deliver shared objectives.
Benefits
  • 25 days holiday, plus the option to buy more.
  • Discounts in over 7,000 retailers, discounted gym membership and discounted dental insurance.
  • Health Trust – a bespoke employee private healthcare plan providing cover with no medical underwriting for colleagues and their families.
  • Access to remote GP and nurse services, physiotherapy, and mental health support.
  • MyHealthcare Allowance – an annual allowance redeemable against a menu of Bupa healthcare products.
  • Early access to earned wages through Wagestream.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • And many more – just ask.
