Polytec are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our Saffron Walden based client. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing sourcing, purchasing and supplier relationships across a variety of technical and operational categories. This hands‑on role supports engineering, R&D, and operations teams by ensuring timely access to critical materials, components and services.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the end‑to‑end procurement process: sourcing, quoting, negotiating and raising POs
  • Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers across technical and operational categories
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts and commercial terms
  • Coordinate shipments, deliveries and customs documentation
  • Work closely with engineering and operations to understand requirements and timelines
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory and component records
  • Improve procurement processes, workflows and documentation as the organisation scales
Requirements
Essential
  • Experience in procurement, purchasing or supply‑chain roles – ideally within engineering, manufacturing or tech
  • Strong negotiation and supplier‑management skills
  • Ability to read or clarify technical specifications
  • Strong organisational, multitasking and communication skills
  • Familiarity with procurement systems, POs and inventory processes
Desirable
  • Experience in defence, aerospace, robotics or hardware‑focused tech
  • Understanding of export controls and international shipping
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards it)
