Glenair UK Ltd, a provider of interconnect innovation into the military aerospace sector for over 40 years are looking for a PCB Layout Designer / Drafter (Rigid / Flex / Rigid-Flex) to join our team at our UK facility in Mansfield.

You will be responsible for the design and development of printed circuit board layouts (Rigid / Flex / Rigid-Flex), the design / development of multi‑layer PCBs with multiple design interfaces (Analog, Impedance control, Power, Digital, High speed and RF), ensuring that all PCB designs comply with industry standards, specification and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing PCB (Rigid / Flex / Rigid‑Flex) layouts following established standards and requirements (for various applications, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability)
  • Perform all PCB layout design activities including schematic review, part library creation, component placement, routing, and Gerber generation using software for PCB layout design (Altium is essential)
  • Creating and maintaining documentation related to PCB designs, including specifications, test procedures, and technical drawings.
  • Prepare documents for PCB assembly, schematics and fabrication using CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Identifying and resolving problems that may arise during the PCB design process
  • Provide support to PCB engineering (internal teams) and manufacturing teams (internal and / or PCB fabricators)
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to understand and define PCB design requirements.
Ideal experience and background
  • Proven experience as a PCB Layout Engineer / Designer or similar role.
  • Experience working with CAD software and has knowledge of Analog, Impedance control, Power, Digital, High speed and RF layouts & High‑density PCB design
  • Strong Proficiency in EDA software, such as Altium Designer, Polar instruments and SolidWorks (Fusion 360° as nice to have)
  • Has a clear understanding of PCB layer stack up and are aware of the common design rules related to PCB such as: noise reduction, EMI / EMC considerations, considerations for thermal integrity, controlled impedance stacks, signal integrity, multilayer design, and power plane sizing
  • Strong understanding of electronic components and circuits.
  • IPC standards knowledge for PCB design and fabrication.
  • Ability to interpret and implement technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with 3D modelling and mechanical design integration
  • Substantial knowledge of PCB fabrication processes and technologies (Materials, stack-ups...)
  • Experience with PCB : manufacturing, testing and / or assembly processes (DFM / DFX).
