The Opportunity

The Analytics & Advisory (A&A) team are part of the Consulting business and responsible for leading innovation through data and technology to enhance our clients' business operations and processes. We allow clients to derive insights and improve decision-making through the implementation of digital data acquisition solutions and systems integration of their operational technology assets.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to support the growth and development of new workstreams in the Operational Technology market. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will work with a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, high-profile clients, and external contractors therefore good communication and people skills are essential. You will be reporting to the Operational Technology Practice Lead.

The role:

A&A uses a flexible and agile approach to systems engineering and are enthusiastic about the use of new technologies. As a Principal Systems Engineer with us, you will be responsible for creating, guiding and overseeing the development and delivery of solutions to meet and exceed client's expectations: integrating technology and innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage a team of Designers, in cross functional teams, working to achieve individual project design deliverables to meet the client needs and providing mentorship in both technical and interpersonal skills
  • Plan, manage, and oversee design projects from conception to completion.
  • Design detailed and complex systems with precision: conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments, design, prototyping, testing, and validation of new designs
  • Liaise with external partners, suppliers, and industry experts to solve problems
  • Working with high-profile clients to establish their requirements and aspirations, building and maintaining relationships to maximise efficiencies and identify further opportunities
  • Working with the OpTech Practice Lead and Delivery Directors to develop proposals for future clients in the Operational Technology market space
What you will bring to us:

  • Extensive post qualification experience in at least three of the following fields: Networking Technologies, Cyber Security, Help Points, Telephony, Variable Message Signs, SCADA, Customer Information Systems, CCTV Systems
  • Proven record of successfully managing and delivering System Integration projects through the whole project lifecycle
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience in the rail, highways or utilities industry
  • Experience in the development of design processes and design resources
  • Good verbal/written communication skills
  • Good documentation skills (e.g. FDS, SDS, O&M manuals)
  • Ability to represent A&A in multi-disciplinary project teams.
Desirable:

  • Experience of bid process and tender response process
  • Experience leading cross functional design reviews and acting as design authority
  • Chartered engineer or equivalent
