Overview

Principal Sustainability Consultant – Location: London. Salary: Starting at £55,000 + (dependent on experience). Join one of the UK’s most respected sustainability consultancies as a Principal Sustainability Consultant based in London. The company is recognised for its collaborative and cross-disciplinary approach, offering services across sustainability, building services, acoustics, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the delivery of large-scale sustainability projects for high-profile clients.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
  • Managing environmental assessments (BREEAM, WELL, HQM) from concept to completion.
  • Delivering in-depth analysis and modelling – including embodied carbon, circular economy opportunities, overheating, and building performance.
  • Facilitating workshops and engaging with clients and design teams to integrate sustainability into every phase.
  • Ensuring projects meet deadlines, quality standards, and client expectations.
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
  • In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations Part L, and experience with IES or Elmhurst software.
  • Strong understanding of Net Zero carbon principles and strategies.
  • Experience delivering thermal comfort and overheating assessments.
  • Ability to support sustainability elements in planning applications.
  • 7–8+ years’ experience in sustainability consultancy, ideally in the built environment.
  • A proven ability to lead teams and successfully manage complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A true passion for sustainability and making a measurable impact.
