Job summary

A regional public sector authority is looking for a Principal Development Control Officer (Waste and Minerals) to manage applications for minerals and waste development. The position is remote but requires working from offices in Northampton and Thrapston as necessary. Candidates should have significant relevant experience and be able to monitor existing sites and initiate enforcement actions when needed. This role offers a competitive rate of £50/hr and is inside IR35.

Overview

Northamptonshire Council are looking for a Principal Development Control Officer (Waste and Minerals).

Rate: £50hr. IR35: Inside IR35. Location: Remote (but working from offices in Northampton and Thrapston when necessary).

Responsibilities

• Determine applications for minerals and waste development for North Northamptonshire, West Northamptonshire and Rutland Councils (the latter two authorities NNC provides a service to under contract).
• Include site visits as appropriate, giving pre-application advice and attending the respective planning committees of the three authorities as necessary when an application goes before them.
• Monitor existing permitted/operational minerals and waste sites in the three authorities and of any authorised development notified to us. In the case of the latter the job holder may need to initiate enforcement action.
• As previously stated experience in minerals and waste development management of significance will be required.
