Overview

Hambleton and Richmondshire Crisis Resolution and Intensive Home Treatment Team are looking to appoint a band 8b Principal Applied Psychologist to work as part of our multi-disciplinary team. The closing date is 30 September 2025.

Responsibilities

A key part of the role is to provide direct clinical work into the Hambleton and Richmondshire Crisis Resolution and Intensive Home Treatment Team and contribute to the leadership role within the team, alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Team Manager. The successful candidate will promote psychological thinking with all members of the team by helping staff to develop formulations for clients, offering supervision and joint work with the team, supporting staff wellbeing and providing training in psychological theory and its implementation.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working psychologically with people who experience severe mental health problems and competencies in an evidence based psychological therapy for SMHP. They will contribute to the collective clinical leadership of the service. They will be responsible for the provision of specialist psychological assessment and formulation, and the delivery of evidence based psychological therapy and clinical supervision. The post holder will contribute to service development and improvement within the locality and the professional leadership of psychological professions.

Qualifications
  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical/counselling psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Trained in care co-ordination
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Significant community or in patient experience in a mental health setting Experience
Experience
  • Must have substantial experience of: Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a full range of clinical severity
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care within a multidisciplinary team
  • Must have experience of providing clinical and professional leadership to other qualified and non-qualified members of the profession
  • Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
Knowledge
  • Doctoral level knowledge of evidence - based practice relevant to the role
