Primary Music Teacher – Full-time – Permanent – Islington - September 2025

Position: Primary Music Teacher (Nursery to Year 6)
Status: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 32.5 hours per week (8:30am - 3:30pm)
Salary: £27,252 - £50,288 (depending on qualifications)
Location: Islington, London

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join our primary school team. The successful candidate will inspire a love of music in children from Nursery to Year 6, delivering engaging lessons and coordinating musical activities across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality music education to pupils from Nursery to Year 6
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with national standards
  • Lead regular music assemblies and coordinate school performances
  • Organize and run lunchtime and after-school music clubs
  • Prepare pupils for musical performances and events throughout the school year
  • Maintain musical instruments and equipment
  • Track and assess pupil progress in music
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into the wider curriculum
  • Support whole-school events with musical elements
  • Qualifications

    Required:

  • Either:Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with music specializationOR relevant music qualification/experience with aptitude for teaching
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Passion for music education and working with primary-aged children
  • Desirable:

  • Experience teaching music at primary level
  • Proficiency in multiple instruments
  • Experience directing children's choirs or orchestras
  • Knowledge of music technology and digital composition tools
