You must be familiar with trauma informed approaches and will contribute to and support the clinical leadership team in the development of the psychological therapies service. The role includes supervising Assistant Psychologists, and if required supervision training can be supported as part of your preceptorship. Hours Monday to Friday 9am-5pm 2.5 days on each site HMP Fosse Way and HMP Five Wells We are able to offer this as a rolling rota 3 days on 1 site 2 at another biweekly Salary This position is full time, you'll receive a salary of up to £58,016 per annum depending on experience How will we support you?

As a qualified, HCPC registered Psychologist, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Offer clinical support and oversight to the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) in the form of training, supervision and reflective practice
  • Undertake psychological assessments and support complex multi-disciplinary formulations
  • Deliver and oversee the delivery of 1:1 psychological interventions and group intervention as part of the Trauma Informed 'Making Sense' Programme
  • Deliver teaching and training to healthcare and prison staff where required

Job responsibilities

Clinical -

Identify patientswho may benefit from psychological intervention, following mental healthtriages and in discussion with the multi-disciplinary team and, where demandexceeds capacity, prioritise according to clinical need, risk presentation andrelease planning in line with agreed service policy;

Provide comprehensive psychologicalassessment, including risk assessment, and develop psychological formulationsto support patients and other members of the MDT in making sense of their difficulties; contribute, where appropriate, to Mother & Baby boardreviews;

Identify and deliver appropriate individualand group interventions to patients in line with the Psychological TherapiesService (PTS) pathways;

To monitorand evaluate psychological interventions using appropriate measures;

To maintainaccurate clinical records and keep the PTS dashboard up to date with outcomesdata for patient/service and staff outcomes;

To communicate both verbally and written, highly complex information concerningassessment, formulation and intervention plans to patients, professionalcolleagues and external agencies, as appropriate;

To manage resources appropriately.

Identify and provide opportunities for other members of the multi-disciplinary team to gainunderstanding of how psychological knowledge can support their work with patients,through developing psychological formulations with team members, participatingin multi-disciplinary meetings and decision making or other opportunities for providing consultancy and advice;

To attend ACCT reviews and segregation reviews in the prisonas appropriate and to offer psychological opinion about management and appropriaterereferrals in that context and, offer psychological understanding into CSIPplans to support management of patients within the wing by prison staff;

In liaisonwith the Mental Leads and/ or Heads of Healthcare, identify and deliveropportunities for staff learning and reflection, through reflective practice,debrief and training sessions.

In liaisonwith Mental Leads and/ or Heads of Healthcare and the National head of PsychologicalTherapies, identify opportunities for and conduct service development projectsin collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team;

Participatein and contribute to CPD and peer supervision within the wider healthcare team;

Activeengagement in appropriate practice supervision and keep a log of evidence of core competencies in line with agreed preceptorship plan.

Teaching, training and supervision

To provideregular reflective practice sessions to the mental health team and other ad-hocopportunities for reflection on practice, including individual or groupdebriefing following incidents;

To providetraining to other members of the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of traumaand psychologically informed care and treatment;

To contributeto CPD and peer supervision sessions within the wider PTS team;

To receiveregular clinical supervision from an appropriately qualified and experienced supervisor,in accordance with the BPS and the HCPC guidelines and, where appropriate, fromother senior professional colleagues;

Management, recruitment, policy and service development

To participate in multi-disciplinary meetings concerned with the delivery and development of clinical services andcontribute a psychological perspective as appropriate;

To advise theMental Health lead and/ or Heads of Healthcare on those aspects of the servicewhere psychological matters need addressing in line with best practice andservice objectives;

To contributeto proposals for and implementation of policy and service development changesin relation to psychology and psychological therapies within the service;

Research, service evaluation & audit

To utilitetheory, evidence based literature and research to support evidence based practice in individual/ group work and work with other team members;

To contributeto project management, including complex audit, research and service evaluationprojects, with colleagues within the service, to help develop serviceprovision;

Professional -

To attend regionaland national Psychological Therapies meetings, service development and otherrelevant meetings regularly;

To adhere to professional/accrediting body codes of conduct, policies and procedures (e.g.HCPC, BABCP, BPS);

To be awareof, adhere to, and where appropriate, contribute to the formulation and reviewof Practice Plus Group policies and procedures;

To maintainand develop high standards of psychology/psychological therapy practice by engaging in continuing professional development and co-operativeworking/networking with therapists, clinical, counselling and forensicpsychologist colleagues;

To receive regularline management supervision by the Head of Healthcare

To participate in the organisations annual performance review and personal development planning process with the clinical supervisor and line manager;

To keep up to date with legislation,national directives, policies and NICE guidelines in relation to the workdelivered.
