This is an exciting opportunity to join the preceptorship programme at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. We offer an opportunity to consolidate your skills as a midwife within the maternity unit rotating through several hospital wards.

We are proud our preceptorship programme has achieved the Capital Midwife quality mark.

We have an extensive preceptorship package which includes alongside your mandatory training:

  • Simulation skills
  • IV Cannulation
  • Suturing
  • Bereavement
  • Screening study days with orientation
  • Supernumerary in each new area

Training opportunities will continue after this preceptorship year and we will encourage you keep training as you develop your career with us.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an assessment centre, you will be required to pass the practical element before progressing to interview on the same day.

Closing date: 4th January 2026 Midnight

Interview: 19th January 2026

The hospital rotation includes working on the Hospital Birth Centre (Obstetric Labour Ward), Postnatal Ward and the Antenatal Ward.

You will be supported to develop your competencies in suturing and cannulation. You will be expected to participate in the care of women requiring both high and low risk care, bereavement care, induction of labour and the immediate postnatal period. We work as part of an MDT and you will liaise with and receive support from other health care professionals on the ward such as doctors, nurses and more senior midwives.

You will be supported by our Senior Midwifery Team, Practice leaders, our PMAs and PDM team to build on your skills and confidence as you progress through your midwifery career.
