Job summary
St Luke's Surgery is an inner city Surgery looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the practice as a receptionist/admin person.
You will be required to deliver a friendly, efficient service and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all patients, with the key aim of retaining and attracting new patients. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has good communication and organisational skills and works efficiently under pressure.
You will be required to work as part of a team or as an individual. A positive attitude is required as is being motivated, compassionate, flexible and enthusiastic. Previous General Practice experience and audio typing is desirable, but all applicants are welcome. Good IT / keyboard skills are essential. The post involves working each day covering mornings, afternoon, and evenings on a rota over four or five days.
Main duties of the job
Duties include making appointments, dealing with enquiries from patients & health professionals. Administration tasks to include typing, document scanning & data entry.

About us
St Luke's Surgery is a well-established inner city practice with a patient list size of approximately 5000.
Our second CQC inspection in 2019 rating was good.

- Two partner GPs, with 2 additional longterm locum GP's
- Health care assistant with range of skills currently well supported by our Practice Nurse
- Part of Nottingham City CCG/PCN and members of Nottingham City GP Alliance.

Job responsibilities
- Answering telephone calls and dealing with face to face enquiries.
- Politely greeting patients and visitors to the centre.
- Explaining the practice procedures to new patients.
- Dealing with all requests in an efficient and courteous manner.
- Opening post and forwarding it onto the relevant parties.
- In charge of the doctors diary.
- Writing letters and correspondence on behalf of the surgery and medical staff.
- Scheduling appointments for patients.
- Updating the surgeries computer system with appointments and personal details.
- Maintaining a clean reception area to show a professional image.
- Arranging for clinical nurses to check a patients blood pressure, height and weight.
- Making sure that the appointments system runs smoothly.
- Receiving urine and blood samples and sending them off to hospital laboratories.
- Screening enquiries for the doctors and medical staff.
- Registering new patients at the surgery.
- Checking patients in and out.
- Accurately collecting information and personal details about patients.
