Join our progressive and high-achieving Faculty of Health as a passionate educator, where you'll deliver innovative, high-quality teaching across a range of vocational and work-based programmes. As a key member of our team, you'll lead courses, assess learners in both classroom and workplace settings, and shape curriculum to meet evolving industry needsfrom retraining to wellbeing. You'll build strong employer partnerships, support learners into higher education or employment, and drive excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment.

For one of the roles we are particularly interested in candidates who have a background in Mental health and ideally hold (or are working towards) an NHS PIN.

Main duties of the job
  • High-quality, innovative teaching, learning, assessment, and internal moderation across a range of vocational and work-based learning courses.
  • Assessing upon a range of accredited programmes across Health and Social Care, as required, delivering the learning aims of students. This may be achieved through general teaching, one-toone tutorial, classroom style workshops, observation, reviews, and the assessment of students in the College or in the workplace.
  • To course lead vocational and work-based learning programme(s) of study for learners in the Health and Social Care division, ensuring high levels of achievement and success.

Job responsibilities

JOBPURPOSE

You willjoin a progressive and successful team, delivering a range of full-time andpart-time programmes within the Faculty of Health. The successful individualwill apply their knowledge and expertise of the care and health sciencesindustry across a range of vocational and work-based programmes.

KEYDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Aspost-holder, you will be responsible to the Curriculum Coordinator, andultimately to the Head of Area, for the following:

High-quality, innovativeteaching, learning, assessment, and internal moderation across a range ofvocational and work-based learning courses.

Assessing upon a range ofaccredited programmes across Health and Social Care, as required, deliveringthe learning aims of students. This may be achieved through general teaching,one-toone tutorial, classroom style workshops, observation, reviews, and theassessment of students in the College or in the workplace.

To course lead vocational andwork-based learning programme(s) of study for learners in the Health and SocialCare division, ensuring high-levels of achievement and success.

To effectively support otherareas of curriculum, where business need dictates, which may include adult andfull-time provisions to ensure high levels of learner / apprentice success andprogression.

To review and adaptcurriculum offers to reflect new delivery modes and responses to agendas such as unemployment, retraining and wellbeing.

Contributing to the delivery,tracking, and monitoring of key skill performance amongst cohorts of studentsin the Faculty of Health.

Where required, to work withthe apprenticeship on-boarding team to ensure that learners complete aneffective and robust induction process.

To identify and implement newinitiatives that will exploit the use of College facilities and engagement withthe wider community.

To deliver an exceptionallearner experience through the delivery of outstanding teaching, learning andassessment leading to positive achievement outcomes and progression on tohigher levels of study, employment, or apprenticeships.

To undertake responsibilitiesfor assisting in the course management of a designated course, beingresponsible for the application of awarding/validating body regulations andprocedures and upholding academic standards.

Grow long-term relationshipswith clients and employers, within the healthcare sector, to capitalise onpartnership opportunities for learners.

Assisting students in theirprogression to Higher Education and / or employment.

Contributing to thedevelopment and the continual improvement of courses, coordinating effectivelywith both staff and students.

To carry out periodicevaluation and monitoring of the quality of provision in line with the qualityassurance calendar.

Being proactive in marketing/ liaising with sector representatives, and employers, with the objective ofdeveloping and enhancing programmes of study, ensuring targeted levels ofrecruitment, establishing strong partnership links, and raising the profile ofthe division.

GENERICDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In additionto the requirements of the post above, all academic staff are required to:

Complete all associatedorganisation / administrative work, preparation, internal verification andmarking.

Deal with immediate studentdisciplinary and welfare problems.

Keep and maintain specifiedstudent and class records.

Plan, prepare, develop, andevaluate courses and course materials, and supervise course provisions, whereappropriate.

Participate in programme /school / college activities, as requested, including parents evenings.

Participate and undertakeStaff Appraisal and in-service training, based upon an assessment of individualservice needs.

Meet the requirements of theHealth and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Colleges Health and SafetyPolicies.

Undertake individual and / orcollaborative research and consultancy work agreed by Weston Collegemanagement, as part of the Practice Educator in Health (WBL)s current duties.

Be prepared to operate on a flexible year, as required. Academic staff will normally be expected to worknot more than two evenings per week, on average.

To take responsibility foryour Continued Professional Development (CPD) to ensure that you attend regularcourses, conferences and keep an up-to-date file of your CPD achievements.

To keep up to date knowledgeand understanding of trends and best practices of healthcare aligned to thesector.

Comply with InformationSecurity requirements in line with College policy.

Undertake such other dutiesas may be reasonably required, commensurate with the grade of the appointment.

Person Specification
Driving Licence
  • Full UK Driving Licence,and access to own transport.
Experience
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Social
  • Care industry, specifically within the Health sector
  • Relevant medical and/or clinical occupational experience
  • Understanding and experience of key health and social care practices toeffectively teach and monitor student performance and progress.
  • Setting and achieving high standards or yourself and your students
  • Promoting a culture of involvement, listening, and responding to students needs.
  • Relevant successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies.
  • Experience of working effectively with employers to create new and bespoke provision.
  • Experience of working with regulatory awarding organisations or accrediting bodies (e.g., membership of a special interest group,
  • advising bodies on policy etc.)
Qualifications
  • Five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
  • All applicants must be able to provide evidence of a Level2 Qualification in English and Mathematics or be willing to undertake the Qualification whilst in post.
  • A degree in Health or Social Care, or Professional Qualification, which is appropriate to the work.
  • Teaching Qualification.
  • All candidates for teaching posts must possess a recognised Teaching Qualification or be prepared to gain this Qualification within the first three years of service, with the assistance of the College.
  • Vocational Assessors Award.
