A prominent recruitment agency is seeking a PPM Engineer for a client in the food manufacturing sector, located in Oldham. PPM Engineer Location : Oldham

Shift : 2pm–10pm, rolling 10-day cycle (Tuesday to following Thursday)

Salary : Up to £45,000 per annum

Overview

I’m supporting one of my clients within the food manufacturing sector who are looking to add a PPM Engineerto their engineering team. This is a hands-on role maintaining and repairing a range of production equipment to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on production machinery including conveyors, ovens, filling machines, metal detectors and x-rays.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults efficiently.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety and company standards.
  • Complete daily engineering logs, PPM sheets and relevant documentation.
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
  • Support continuous improvement and contribute to engineering projects.
Skills & Experience
  • Time-served or qualified engineer (mechanical or electrical bias).
  • Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Confident interpreting engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-focused approach
