PMLD TEACHER - WAKEFIELD

Academic Appointments are working in partnership with a specialist SEND Setting in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, who are looking for a Qualified Teacher to lead a PMLD and Complex Needs class for an interim period.

The successful candidate will have previous experience and confidence in their ability to work with children that will have Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties, may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

We are seeking an experienced individual to support the schools SENDCo in the delivery of interventions and support programmes to support the children with additional needs. This is a crucial role to ensure students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities can access learning, fulfil their potential, and take part in all aspects of school life.

Responsibilities
  • Be flexible, dedicated and passionate about supporting and delivering learning to enable students to progress, become independent learners and make at least expected progress.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and share the school's mission and ethos.
  • Complete referrals under the direction of the SENDCo.
  • Liaise with and provide student information for a number of external agencies.
  • Liaise with parents and carers.
  • To work directly with students in class, in 1:1 situations and in small groups, sometimes working under the direction of staff and sometimes planning your own role, and providing feedback on pupil engagement and achievement.

Additional duties will be discussed once successful.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Educated to degree (or equivalent) standard.
  • Evidence of QTS and experience working with children with PMLD.
  • To be currently available for full time employment.
  • 2x references.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS Certificate or be willing to obtain one (we can assist with this part).
  • Team teach positive behaviour management certificate preferred but not essential.

Rate of pay is dependent on current grade, experience and payroll method.
