About the Role

One of our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Plumber / Fitter to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Northumberland. This role requires delivering installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of plumbing and related building services to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of the prison's infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspection, maintenance, examination, testing, and repairs on plumbing, heating, ventilation, and hot/cold water systems.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, manufacturer instructions, and operational documents accurately.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks and troubleshoot issues using appropriate tools and testing devices.
  • Repair and replace plumbing fixtures and building services equipment, including some basic electrical components.
  • Inspect and contribute to improving resident decency standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all maintenance and repair work, reporting any defects or substandard equipment.
  • Escort and collaborate with specialist contractors when required.
  • Adhere strictly to all relevant trade standards and health and safety policies.
  • Participate in out-of-hours call-out duties on an on-call rota system.
  • Work proactively both independently and as part of a wider maintenance team.
  • Comply with Sodexo policies and procedures to support effective prison operation.
