  • Analyse and communicate the project critical path to project teams.
  • Oversee resource planning to optimise cost and efficiency.
  • Provide strategic planning oversight and mentorship to junior planners.

Job Title - Planning Engineer - Power Transmission & Distribution

Location: Norwich, UK (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary - Up To £70,000 plus an excellent package

Client

Our client is delivering a major infrastructure project – the Norwich Main Grid Park and associated systems – which includes key elements of a wind farm and a substation connected to the National Grid. As of April 2024, the project involved laying 35 miles of onshore cabling from the coast to a new converter station near Norwich, forming part of the Ørsted Hornsea 3 wind farm development. This flagship project also features a large‑scale converter station and battery storage system to support renewable energy integration.

About the Role

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Engineer to join their growing Power Transmission & Distribution business. If you’re passionate about delivering high‑impact infrastructure projects and have strong experience in planning and scheduling, this is your opportunity to be part of something truly transformative.

We’re looking for a motivated planning professional with a strong background in construction scheduling and resource management. Experience using Primavera P6 and working on substation or transmission projects is highly desirable.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Ensure all programme content complies with planning procedures and company standards

  • Manage and maintain contract programmes post‑award, including baseline updates and change control

  • Oversee resource planning (labour, plant, materials) to optimise cost and efficiency
  • Support contract management through monitoring subcontractor performance
  • Provide strategic planning oversight and mentorship to junior planners
  • Generate project data and KPIs to track performance and support decision‑making
What We’re Looking For
  • Proficiency with project planning tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, ASTA)
  • Strong knowledge of construction project management methodologies
  • Deep experience in developing and managing complex construction schedules
  • Understanding of tender and contract documentation and various contract types
  • Familiarity with project risk assessment tools (TRA, QSRA, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Previous experience in leading planning for large infrastructure or energy projects
