The post holder will be responsible for the day to day training and supervision of clinic support workers and ward clerks, as well as the onboarding, induction, orientation and training of new starters.
It is essential that the post holder exercises initiative and judgement using acquired skills and knowledge, maintaining confidentiality at all times. The post holder will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for colleagues.
The post holder will be required to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to work under extreme pressure, and be able to exercise sound judgement and decision making skills.
The post holder is expected to be proactive in terms of keeping themselves fully up to date and briefed on trust policies and performance targets.
Cross covering members of the team will also be expected during busy periods and to cover absence.
Day to day training and support for clinical support workers and ward clerks
Create induction and orientation schedules for new starters
Support ward managers with the recruitment of band 2 ward clerks and band 3 clinical support workers
Liaise with the PDN team to ensure all training given to staff is appropriate, relevant and up to date
Be proficient in blood glucose monitoring, urinary monitoring, ECG recording, Venepuncture and bladder scanning.
Hold regular meetings with the ward clerks and clinical support workers to discuss improvements to the service and support with any issues arising.
