Placement Support worker - Childrens/Fostering - Fixed Term

37 hours per week • 6 x Positions Available • Fixed Term up to March 2028

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to thrive in their homes and communities? Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of care-experienced children and their carers? We are looking for committed, proactive individuals to join our Placement Support Team within Bridgend's fostering service.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering 1:1 and group interventions to children, young people, and their carers
  • Supporting with crisis management, behaviour regulation, and placement planning
  • Working in partnership with social workers, foster carers, and families
  • Chairing family network meetings and contributing to care planning
  • Providing continuity of support and advice to foster families
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on call rota to support families

Requirements / Qualifications
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards Level 4)
  • Experience of direct work with children, young people, and families
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child development, and current social care legislation
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • A flexible, strengths-based approach to support work
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
  • The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post
  • Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees
  • An Enhanced DBS check with Barred List (Children's & Adults) is a requirement for this post
  • The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post
  • A valid driving licence is a requirement for this post
  • Weekend Working and Standby Duties are a requirement of this post
