Overview
We\'re recruiting a Piping/Mechanical Inspector for the Liverpool Bay CCS Transport and Storage Project. You\'ll verify compliance with specifications and standards during mechanical assembly and piping fabrication, ensuring quality and safety in onshore, offshore, and supplier locations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and inspect piping fabrication and mechanical assembly at supplier and project sites
- Verify compliance with drawings, ITPs, and international codes (ASME, ISO, PED, ANSI, API, AWS, ASTM)
- Inspect pipes, valves, fittings, tanks, compressors, pumps, and rotating machinery
- Monitor welding activities; validate welder qualifications and procedures
- Witness pressure testing, dimensional checks, and mechanical tests
- Verify NDT activities (VT, PT, UT, MT, RT) per ISO 9712 Level 2 requirements
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, punch lists, and non-conformity notifications
- Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and QA/QC teams to resolve issues
- Ensure safe work practices and full HSE compliance
Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical assembly and boiler making, especially in oil & gas or energy sectors
- Strong background inspecting piping systems, valves, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment
- Knowledge of ASME, ISO, PED, ANSI, API, AWS, ASTM standards
- NDT Level 2 certification (ISO 9712) for VT/PT/UT/MT/RT
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and welding docs
- Effective communicator with teamwork skills
- Fluent in English; other languages advantageous
