Qualifications

  • Must have a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ level 3.

  • Knowledge of assembly and production acceptance testing.
  • Ability to follow technical drawings and procedures.

Responsibilities

As part of our production team the Pipe Fabricator will play a key role in producing our Landing Gear pipes. You'll be operating conventional & numerically controlled (CNC) equipment for bending, hydraulic fitting swaging, and pressure testing, all while meeting quality, cost, deadline and safety requirements. You'll also provide occasional support to the Landing Gear Assembly line, and contribute to improvements that boost product quality and reduce production time.

Job Requirements
  • Prepare and install tools, measuring and test equipment and automatic control stations
  • Load the computer programs specified in the production procedures and input production equipment settings, ensuring that it functions correctly
  • Run the machine program to perform the operations, and perform the intermediate checks specified in the production process, drawings or written instructions, ensuring geometric tolerances and quality compliance
  • Inspect the finished product and identify any defects
What do I need to succeed in the role?
  • You must have a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ level 3
  • Understanding of the basic principles of the pipe manufacture process.
  • Knowledge of Assembly and completion of associated production acceptance testing.
  • General knowledge of Fabrication and the relevant machinery.
  • Ability to follow and understand technical drawings, specs, procedures & Test instructions.
  • Understanding of the risks related to Foreign Object Damage (FOD).
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with quality tools for example 5S, Lean/6-Sigma.
  • Ability to self-inspect & complete dimensional measurements.
  • An understanding of the programming of CNC machines would be an advantage.
