Our pharmacy technician positions have undergone an exciting transformation, moving from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you\'ll be front and center – interacting with our customers and developing strong patient relationships. Responsibilities
- In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assist with other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist with and coach technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating the pharmacy cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
- Develop strong relationships with our most valuable customers.
Operations
- Under pharmacist supervision, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Follow the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, checking for interactions, and assisting with scheduling and workflow.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Register related sales on the assigned cash register, handle cash as required, and assist customers in locating products.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist\'s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
- Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third-party prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments. Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
- May assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collection and proper labeling of specimens, and coordinate clinical services with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Help develop and maintain good relationships with local medical communities through detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, and other forums to support growth opportunities.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly Pharmacy Department and ensuring adequate supplies.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration. Otherwise, earn PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
- Attend training requested by the Manager and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of experience in a retail environment (preferred).
- Prior work experience with Walgreens (preferred).
- Good math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications (preferred).
- Good computer skills (preferred).
- Knowledge of store inventory control (preferred).
- PTCB certification (preferred).

Salary Range: $16.50 - $20.00 / Hour
