Job description

We are seeking dynamic, motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technicians to join our team on a fixed-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals wishing to apply their skills and knowledge within a patient-focused role in a busy hospital environment.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience in hospital, community or other pharmacy sectors.

The successful applicant will thrive in a fast-paced setting, demonstrate a commitment to high-quality patient care and show enthusiasm for learning new skills.

You will take part in a comprehensive training programme designed to prepare you for all aspects of the role and support your professional development within the service.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide excellent, patient-focused pharmacy care across busy inpatient wards, specialist outpatient clinics and satellite units.
  • Participate in medicines management rotations, offering direct patient contact including taking accurate medication histories, medicines reconciliation, supporting the safe and effective use of prescribed medicines, and counselling patients on new treatments.
  • Undertake dispensary duties including the accurate labelling, dispensing and checking of a wide range of prescriptions, such as controlled drugs, clinical trial medications, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), chemotherapy, home IV therapies and palliative care medicines.
  • Use the EPIC electronic prescribing system and Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets accurately to deliver a safe, timely and cost-effective pharmacy service.
  • Full training will be provided for all aspects of the role.
