Overview
The post holder undertakes pharmacy assistant duties in the store and distribution section. The post holder will be an integral part of the Pharmacy team and will cover all assistant duties to support the demands of the service. This post will require a Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS) check.
Responsibilities
- To receive, assemble and deliver medicines and supplies for all areas of Pharmacy and also to wards, departments and clinics. Unpack, check, record and put away stock pharmaceutical products according to SOPs, completing documentation including dating and signing. Assisting with processing of invoices of goods received.
- To ensure all medicines that are outstanding to ward/department are ordered and the store manager informed.
- To deliver urgent items to wards, clinics and departments when required.
- To participate in weekend, public holiday and extended hours provision of pharmacy services.
- To comply with Trust policies relating to security and patient confidentiality and to ensure that procedures are undertaken within safe systems of work and legislation.
- This is a physically demanding yet rewarding role and you will be trained in all aspects of pharmacy stores processes; if you don't hold an NVQ in pharmacy services then this isn't a problem, we will provide thorough training and support during your time with us to undertake your role.
- It is an exciting time for pharmacy stores with new developments including automation of pharmacy supplies and there will be an opportunity to be involved in service improvement projects.
- Clinical Duties: To provide basic clinical technical services ensuring the correct stock medicines are available on wards for patients.
- Professional Duties: To participate in audits and surveys relating to the stores and distribution section. To undertake the store and distribution training.
- Managerial Duties: There are no managerial duties required in this post.
- Financial/Di: Responsible for checking, storage and distribution of medicines.
- Managing Self: Participate in regular supervision; Attend all mandatory training; Participate annually in identifying, developing and agreeing your own development plan with your Line Manager using the Trust Appraisal; Comply with all Trust policies, procedures and protocols; Carry out duties with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunity Policy; Seek advice and support from Line Manager whenever necessary; Maintain Trust conduct including appearance at all times.
