Main duties of the job

UPL is seeking a motivated and patient-focused Registered Pharmacist to join our vibrant outpatient pharmacy team within the NHS. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your clinical expertise across a diverse range of medical specialties while making a real impact on patient care.

You will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment, working within a large team and providing a patient-centred service, whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This role is perfect for an ambitious Pharmacist who can build strong relationships with varying healthcare professionals.

  • Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 18:00
  • Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00
  • Sundays: 10:00 – 16:00

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
What you will do
  • To be accountable for providing safe and efficient pharmaceutical services to all service users visiting the outpatient pharmacy department.
  • To carry out clinical checks (screening) of all outpatient prescriptions, including oncology outpatients.
  • To accuracy-check prescriptions before handout.
  • To counsel patients on the safe and effective use of medicines.
  • To provide advice to all customers.
  • To be responsible and reliable for supporting safe and efficient delivery of outpatient services.

Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria

  • UK Masters Degree in Pharmacy, or equivalent qualification
  • General Pharmaceutical Council registration as a practising pharmacist

Desirable criteria

  • Further relevant post-registration qualifications
  • Clinical Pharmacy Diploma
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential criteria

  • Relevant post registration experience
  • Proven track record of providing excellent customer care in a community or hospital pharmacy environment.
  • Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Change management experience
  • Sound knowledge of Pharmacy law, ethics and practice

Desirable criteria

  • Both community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience of robotic dispensing.
  • Experience of stock control
  • Experience of using pharmacy JAC computer system
  • Accredited for locally commissioned enhanced services e.g. Flu vaccinations, Minor Ailments scheme.
  • Experience of using tracking systems
  • Ability to take initiative and lead on projects including change management

Knowledge Technical Professional Specialist job related

Essential criteria

  • Excellent general clinical knowledge
  • Able to use clinical knowledge at senior level
  • Knowledge of postgraduate education for pharmacists

Desirable criteria

  • Specialised knowledge of drugs used and therapeutic trends within specialised area (e.g. Oncology)
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems guidance and NHS change
