Job description

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced, high calibre pharmacist with advanced, expert clinical knowledge and skills to lead the critical care team at St George’s Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • To work as an advanced expert pharmacist within all areas of the critical care.
  • To lead on the provision and development of the clinical pharmacy services including clinical risk and governance, finance, operations and research.
  • To act as a role model providing education, training, and mentoring to staff within pharmacy and the specialty.
  • To manage and develop a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacists and students.
  • In conjunction with the principal pharmacist, manage and implement services designed to improve the pharmaceutical care to patients and extend the boundaries of clinical practice.
  • To progress service improvement initiatives through multi‑disciplinary working to ensure safe and timely provision of medicines.
  • To participate in clinical audit and research, risk management and clinical guideline development.
  • Deputise for the principal pharmacist and represent the team within the organisation and across the interface.
Qualifications

The successful applicant will be able to manage multiple priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. You will have excellent communication skills and be an enthusiastic educator. The ability to work autonomously and with a high level of accountability is essential. You should possess a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent and have the relevant hospital pharmacy experience.
