Reports to: Health & Wellness Coordinator / Site Safety Officer
Position Overview:
The Personal Trainer 1 is responsible for designing and implementing individualized and group fitness programs aimed at improving strength, endurance, flexibility, and overall physical health of workers and staff. This role plays a key part in preventing work-related injuries, enhancing performance, and promoting a culture of fitness across Earthmount Global project sites and accommodation camps.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

Assess the physical condition and fitness goals of individual clients or worker groups.

Develop personalized training programs that align with job-specific physical demands (e.g., lifting, climbing, stamina).

Lead warm-ups, strength training, flexibility routines, and cardio sessions for site staff or residents.

Instruct on proper form, lifting techniques, posture correction, and injury prevention strategies.

Monitor and track progress, adjust routines based on performance and recovery needs.

Collaborate with site medical teams on post-injury or post-surgery return-to-fitness programs.

Conduct workplace wellness workshops on topics such as mobility, stress relief, and hydration.

Ensure the fitness facility (if present) is clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Promote active lifestyles within the workforce through fitness challenges or incentive-based wellness campaigns.

Uphold safety protocols and identify any signs of strain, exhaustion, or underlying health issues.

Provide basic guidance on nutrition, sleep hygiene, and daily recovery practices.

Document attendance, training milestones, and incidents in daily logs or digital platforms.

Support field medics or occupational therapists in conditioning programs when requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certifications:

KCSE minimum; Diploma or Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, or related field preferred.

Certified Personal Trainer from a recognized body (e.g., ACE, NASM, ISSA, or equivalent).

CPR and First Aid certification required.

Certification in Functional Movement Screening (FMS), kettlebell, or mobility training is an advantage.

Experience:

2+ years of personal training or physical coaching experience in gym, camp, or occupational fitness environments.

Previous experience working with construction workers, athletes, or in physically demanding industries preferred.

Experience facilitating group fitness, bootcamps, or site-wide health initiatives is a plus.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of anatomy, movement mechanics, and injury prevention.

Ability to motivate, mentor, and train people of diverse fitness levels and ages.

Skilled in adjusting workouts for individuals with physical limitations or post-injury recovery needs.

Excellent communication, record-keeping, and program-planning skills.

Confident leading sessions in a multilingual or multicultural workforce setting.

Other Requirements:

Physically fit and able to demonstrate exercises and lift equipment.

Willing to work outdoors, in mobile camps, or in rotating shifts.

Comfortable with public speaking or leading team events.
