Personal Tax Assistant

A well-established and growing accountancy practice is looking for a Probate, Trusts & Estates Tax Technician to join their expanding Private Client team. The role is particularly well suited to someone at an early stage of their career who is keen to build technical expertise in this area and offers genuine flexibility around working location and study support. Experience in probate or tax is helpful but not essential, as training and exposure can be shaped around the right individual.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assist with probate and estate administration matters, including preparing draft inheritance tax forms to progress grant applications.
  • Compile and submit probate documentation accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Input estate and trust data into specialist systems to generate calculations and reports.
  • Draft estate accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare self-assessment tax returns for trusts and estates, including capital gains and property income.
  • Complete and submit 60-day CGT returns and trust-related inheritance tax forms.
  • Register and maintain trusts and estates on HMRC systems and monitor ongoing reporting obligations.
  • Liaise with HMRC where required and support informal or formal reporting.
  • Build professional relationships with clients through phone, email and meetings.
  • Support fee billing and maintain a high standard of client service.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments and assist with ad‑hoc matters as required.

  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
