PERM LEAD PRACTICE NURSE MILTON KEYNES GP SURGERY c£55k BENS in Milton Keynes

Job Ref: dmdlmil1

Lead Practice Nurse required in Milton Keynes up to 55k per annum. This is a full-time role based in a busy GP surgery in Milton Keynes. As the team leader for the general practice nursing team, you will be accountable for nursing service delivery, lead and manage all the nursing resources, and work closely with the GPs and practice manager to deliver the practice priorities. Clinically, the focus of the role is the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients with acute and chronic conditions and management and preventative nursing interventions to all patients. You will work collaboratively with the whole general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of procedures and providing leadership and direction for the nursing team.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Help develop the nursing services offered by the practice.
  • Provide clinical leadership within the nursing teams.
  • Ensure the highest standards of care are provided for patients.
  • Manage and develop a clinical acute and chronic caseload, addressing presenting patient needs in a primary care setting.
  • Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patients needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols.
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Deliver a high standard of patient care using specialist practice nurse skills.

Knowledge, training and experience required

Essential:

  • Adult nursing qualification
  • Qualified to degree level
  • NMC adult nursing registration
  • Clinical supervision training and experience
  • Knowledge and active participation in QOF/DES/LES/KPIs and maximising achievement in nurse-led areas
  • Clinical audits knowledge and experience
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience; at least 2 years recent primary and community nursing experience

Desirable:

  • Extended and supplementary prescribing qualification
  • Qualifications in family planning, asthma, diabetes, CHD and cytology
  • Travel medicine
  • Mentor/teaching qualification
