About the role

Waltham Forest Music Service is seeking to appoint passionate pioneering and inspirational musicians and music educators to deliver high quality music education and opportunities for children and young people in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver instrumental / vocal tuition within Waltham Forest schools and at Music School and promote quality and equality in the provision of services.
  • Participate and engage in concerts events and projects as required.
  • Understand and work within best practice safeguarding and child protection.
  • Demonstrate understanding tolerance and empathy.
  • Understand different learning styles and be welcoming of difference and the differences in behaviours and the way young people engage.
  • Take an inclusive approach to group / class management.
  • Inspire young people through music.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Be an outstanding musician able to perform to a high standard on one or more instruments (including voice and music technology).
  • Be committed to inspiring and nurturing the next generation with flexibility and professionalism.
  • A degree in music or music education is desirable but not essential; a commitment to learning and development is essential.
  • Teaching experience across a range of settings is desirable but an open and adaptible approach is essential.

  • This role is subject to safer recruitment practices as it involves work with children and / or vulnerable adults.
  • Satisfactory DBS check.
  • Public authority requirement for fluent spoken English for effective performance.
