Job description
Overview

The Mental Health division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust comprises Adult Mental Health, Mental Health Services for Older People and Specialist Services. More than 2,800 staff provide healthcare across the region. The Community Perinatal Mental Health Team, part of Specialist Services, co‑located with Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services on the Hopewood site, delivers assessment and treatment to women with perinatal mental health needs. The team serves the City and County of Nottinghamshire and Bassetlaw, with clinics across the area. This position will operate mainly in the Newark and Mansfield areas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide total packages of care from assessment through to discharge, including prevention and minimisation of detrimental effects of perinatal illnesses on foetus/infant and other children.
  • Maintain a diary of work activities and produce timely and accurate statistics for monitoring contractual activity and audit purposes.
  • Ensure excellent communication between other service providers, attend case conferences and client reviews as required.
  • Offer specialist advice/training to professionals, carers, statutory and voluntary agencies to promote mental health awareness.
  • Provide advice and consultation to GP’s, consultant psychiatrists, obstetricians, midwives, health visitors, social workers and allied professionals.
  • Provide urgent assessments on the maternity wards in the locality.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in line with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Policy.
  • Maintain effective records in line with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Supervise junior members of the clinical team.
  • Maintain a full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use; reasonable adjustments for disabled individuals will be made.

  • Experience working with mothers with perinatal illness.
Practical Details and Application

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment: £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced). The cost will be deducted over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service; an annual fee of £16 per year applies.
