An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for anexceptional individual to join the Acute Care Division as Patient ServicesManager for Acute Medicine and Patient flow. This is a seconded role for aperiod of 12 months the Acute Care Division are seeking expressions of interestinternally and across our neighbouring WYAAT Trusts.

This is a rewarding and challenging operational role thatwill deal with complex and dynamic situations. Alongside managing dailyoperational issues for the Patient Flow team, Medical SDEC, Substance care teamand the Acute Medical team.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in alarge healthcare organisation in an operational setting. This role wouldideally suit a candidate who is looking to develop their career in operationalmanagement and are wanting to further develop their skills and experiencewithin this environment.

Main duties of the job

The Patient Service Manager will have lead responsibilityfor the day-to-day management of all operational issues within defined clinicalservices units. They will have to ensure the effective delivery of services topatients in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards,controls and resource constraints. The postholder will be expected to supportthe DDO in the delivery of Trust objectives and ensuring national targets areachieved.

The postholder will support the Head of Clinical Servicesand Service Matron with the development and delivery of a strategic vision andensure service changes meet internal and external expectations and standards.

Working closely with the Business Support Unit andCoordinators to ensure consistent delivery of activity so that income ismaximised and targets delivered.

Continually monitor capacity and rigorously manageconsultant leave so that supply is always appropriate to demand and premiumrate costs are managed out of the system.

To work with other clinical service units and Divisions todeliver corpocracy and consistency across Divisional areas.

Ensure that each Service Unit works to deliver ImprovingWorking Lives standards, Agenda for Change, European Working Time Directive andNew Deal for Junior Doctors.

The post holder will be expected to deputise for colleaguesas appropriate to level of skills and service unit requirements.
