Job description
Overview

Due to an increased workload, we are seeking experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineers to contribute across all stages of the Product Life Cycle. This includes Mechanical Future Concepts, Detailed Design, Qualification, Production, and In-service Support. In this role, you will lead the development of mechanical solutions for a diverse range of complex weapons and weapon systems while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. This opportunity offers excellent potential for career progression within a leading European defence company.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design work packages and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Develop mechanical solutions across various stages of the Product Life Cycle.
  • Ensure compliance with proving and qualification activities.
  • Apply robust design techniques such as DFMEA, DFA, and DFM.
  • Engage with suppliers and develop internal and external partnerships.
  • Influence and negotiate with stakeholders across the business.
  • Adapt to cultural in a professional manner.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively and maintain a calm, professional approach.
  • Utilize relevant 3D CAD/CAE tools with training provided where necessary.
  • Be open to reasonable travel within the UK and occasionally Europe.
What We Are Looking For
  • Degree/HND/HNC qualification with significant experience in Mechanical Design and Development.
  • Proven ability to lead mechanical design projects within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis (advantageous).
  • A proactive and adaptable approach with a focus on setting and achieving priorities.
  • Awareness of cultural and the ability to adapt communication styles accordingly.

The advertised salary is based off the salary paid on a full-time (37 hour p/w) basis.
