Horticultural Assistant

My client seeks candidates with proven experience in selling or maintaining potted plants in any form of retail environment.

The Horticultural Assistant role will play a key role in helping our client’s business to continue to grow and succeed.

My client is looking for a reliable and professional candidate to join their team. This will be a part‑time role working around 25 hours a week.

This role could suit candidates who have worked in the horticultural role in the past, that are looking for a part‑time permanent role with a well‑established business with a lovely working environment.

Reporting To The Directors, You Will Be Responsible For
  • Support the maintenance of potted plants.
  • Watering and pruning plants to support health and growth.
  • Actively selling plants to the public and trade.
  • Warehouse activities including goods in, inventory control, quality control, picking, packing and dispatch.
  • Keeping accurate records of stock using bar code scanners.
  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of plant area.
  • Working as part of a team.
  • Offering excellent customer service at all times.
Candidate Profile
  • Have experience in a similar role within the horticultural industry, with experience in looking after and selling potted plants.
  • Reliable, honest and professional.
  • Team Player.
  • Ability to communicate well with customers, strong customer service skills.
  • Potted plant buying experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Adaptable with the ability to multitask.
