Job description

To provide a painting and decorating service within healthcare premises including maintenance of existing building fabric and full re‑decorating works (lifecycle) to meet the needs of the Trust by operating an efficient and effective Estates Service within the Trust’s healthcare facilities. Deliver a planned maintenance, repair & installations service that always represents quality and value for money, provide a safe maintenance service to all building‑construction related infrastructure, assist in the development of the Estates function into a customer‑focused range of services and adopt a flexible, integrated working approach to the delivery of Estates Service. Autonomously work with estates colleagues, effectively organise and manage the decorating workload and resources with due regard to management requirements and be prepared and willing to undertake other associated works as required.

Responsibilities
  • Apply the highest standards of painting and decorating in the process of maintaining, refurbishing and new build of a modern, complex health estate both internally and externally, under COSHH Regulations.
  • Prioritise, organise and manage own resources and materials by reference to Estates Department standards through direct consultation with Estates management and the customer while working independently with appropriate management support and where necessary reschedule prevailing work to meet local service demands.
  • Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to this trade, without supervision.
  • Painting and decorating all Trust property, internally and externally, to acceptable craft standards and using approved methods of working.
  • Assist and support other trade staff and contractors, as necessary.
  • Transportation, erection, dismantling and use of scaffolding and access equipment as required under PASMA qualification/training, working from height as a major factor.
Selection Criteria & Application Requirements
  • Priority will be given to NHS staff across the region who are at risk of redundancy, where the vacancy is at the same band or one below their current band and candidates meet the essential criteria for this post.
  • All employees new to the Trust will be subject to a 6 month probationary period.
  • All clinical staff bands 2-4 that are new to the Trust will be required to complete a Care Certificate.
  • Canvassing of members of the Trust or of any Committee of the Trust directly or indirectly for any appointment under the Trust shall disqualify the candidate for such appointment.

We are looking to recruit a Painter & Decorator to work within our Estates team, working full time 37.5 hours per week. Band 4, £27,485 - £30,162 plus enhanced pay for on‑call and overtime. The Estates Team is part of the Corporate Directorate and supports all Directories in the Trust. We consist of approximately 25 staff and are a reactive service with frontline staff. The Facilities Team are much wider and work in conjunction with the Estates Team.
