Job description

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of an Out of Hours Support Worker on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £14.09- £18.42 per hour

Summary

The Intervention Support Worker (Out of Hours) provides critical emergency support to vulnerable children, young people, and families outside of standard office hours. Operating within the Interventions Hub, this role features a dual function: providing family support to enhance parenting capacity and delivering residential support in bespoke emergency placements following the "Right Place" model. The goal is to ensure families receive the right help at the right time, promoting child health and development while adhering to statutory duties.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver out-of-hours interventions in accordance with CASP, Child Protection (CP), and Care and Support (CLA) plans as requested by Social Workers.
  • Staff emergency bespoke placements for children and young people, ensuring "Safe Care" and compliance with the code of conduct for Social Care Workers Wales.
  • Maintain accurate ICT-based records, reports, and evidence for formal settings such as Child in Need Reviews, Case Conferences, or Court Proceedings.
  • Provide transport and escort for children and families using a County or personal vehicle, and assist with supervised contact.
  • Adhere to Corporate Safeguarding Policies and report all concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children or adults at risk.
Qualification

Education at GCSE or equivalent level. Ability to complete the All Wales Induction Framework for Health and Social Care within 6 months of appointment.

Essentials
  • Proven experience working directly with vulnerable children and parents/carers in a community or statutory setting.
  • Experience in a residential setting or working with young people with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
  • Knowledge of the 1989 Children Act and the Social Services and Well-being Act (Wales) 2014.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of child development and parenting skills.

  • You should have right to work in U.K.
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS.
