Overview

Have you ever wondered how you can make a difference contributing to saving lives every day? The operational Support directorate at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust is a dedicated and vital support network which assists our front‑line clinicians in providing excellent care to people living in the East of England, 365 days a year, 7 days a week.

This role will involve shift working including early and late shifts; you will be expected to work weekends and Bank Holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe collection and delivery of Trust vehicles from Trust locations to both Trust workshops and other designated vehicle repairers.
  • Ensure all vehicles are driven in a safe and economical manner at all times, bearing in mind that the vehicles are easily identified as belonging to the Trust.
  • Carry out extended road tests of vehicles during both collection and delivery to ensure the vehicles are ready for use by the Trust.
  • Pre‑drive checks to verify that the vehicle has legal tyres, functioning lights, sufficient coolant and fuel for the journey.
  • Report any defects that arise during the road test to either the Trust Workshop Supervisor or the Workshop Manager before the vehicle is handed over to the user.
  • Maintain the safe keeping of any fuel card or mobile phone issued during the period of work and return such items prior to the end of duty. Report any loss or theft immediately to the Workshop Supervisor or the Workshop Manager.
  • Keep contact with Fleet Administrators, Workshop Supervisors and Fleet Workshop Managers to inform them of availability for work.
  • Support the movement of vehicles for emergency response or rescue missions in other areas of the Trust, reporting faults that arise during a collection and delivery journey to the Workshop Supervisor or the Workshop Manager before handing over the vehicle.
