Nursing Assistant

A Job has become available on ward 2 at Hexham general Hospital.

The role is for a Nursing Assistant to help with the care delivery on the ward and maintaining the roles and responsibility in line with polices and procedures.

Role Includes
  • To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality patient care.
  • To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the MDT.
  • To be responsible for own nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
  • To assist in ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic ward environment.
  • Going above and beyond for patients and working well in a team to meet the care needs to all.
  • Daily audits.
  • Observations and maintaining safety.
  • Great communication both face to face and over devices.
Main Duties of the Job
  • To work under the supervision of a qualified nurse and assist in the implementation of patient care.
  • Direct Patient Care including End of Life.
  • Record patient Observations.
  • Prepare the clinical area for procedures.
  • Perform bladder scans, ECG, maintain patients records on IT / Nerve Centre.
  • Helping with rehabilitation goals.
  • Encouraging engagement and fluid and food promotion.
  • Weekly checks with making sure equipment is safe before usage.
  • Safe Moving and handling.
  • working in both a team and alone.
  • Communication with all peers and patients.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Completion of a competency-based programme or equivalent relevant experience
  • Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation
  • Previous care experience in a health or social care settingEvidence of completed competencies aligned to the service area
