Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Nursery Room leader for the preschool room. Please only apply if you have a minimum level 3 childcare qualification alongside experience as a practitioner or room leader.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare learning activities and participate in activities that stimulate the interests of the children.
• Take Equal Opportunities policy and issues of diversity into account; awareness of how skills and knowledge of books and play materials in the nursery environment develop and celebrate diversity amongst the children within the local community.
• Work independently on initiative at times with support from the Manager and Directors.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents and external agencies (verbal and written).
• Supervise and delegate staff appropriately, with awareness of legislative requirements.
• Maintain routines and respond to service demands; work flexibly as required.
• Carry out duties to support the smooth running of the nursery and take pride in the environment.
• Encourage equal opportunities and concentrate on safeguarding and the well-being of the children at all times.
• Support and advise the rest of the team, ensuring good relations with staff, volunteers, students and parents.
• Create and maintain a safe, emotionally and psychologically safe environment for the children and any visitors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification; experience as a practitioner or room leader.
• GCSE or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a nursery setting: 1 year preferred; childcare experience: 1 year preferred; management experience: 1 year preferred.
• Driving licence preferred.
• English language requirement: Flexible language requirement noted ("English not required").
