Overview

The Nursery Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. This position requires strong leadership skills and a passion for early childhood education. The Nursery Manager will be responsible for managing staff, communicating effectively with parents, and driving the nursery's vision to provide high-quality childcare. Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage and lead a team of childcare professionals, providing guidance and support to foster their development.
  • Develop and implement educational programmes that promote children's learning and development in line with early years frameworks.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, addressing any concerns or queries regarding their children's progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's development, attendance, and other relevant documentation.
  • Organise activities that encourage social interaction and cognitive development among children.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is clean, safe, and conducive to learning.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance the nursery's reputation within the community.
Skills
  • Proficient in English with excellent communication skills to engage with children, parents, and staff effectively.
  • Strong leadership abilities to manage a diverse team and inspire them towards achieving common goals.
  • Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is essential.

What a Nursery Manager needs
  • Must be at least Level 3 qualified in a UK recognised early years qualification.
  • Excellent understanding of EYFS.
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding.
  • Senior leadership experience within a nursery setting.
  • It is a legal requirement to hold a GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths or be willing to achieve within 2 years of starting the position.

We expect all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment, and safeguarding training is a fundamental part of every role. All colleagues are required to complete regular training to ensure they understand and fulfil their responsibilities. A Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate is mandatory for all positions, and this role will be subject to enhanced checks as part of our safeguarding duties.
