Job description
Overview

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced nurse to become a Nurse Consultant within the Gynae‑oncology team at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑level expert clinical advice, leadership, and support to the gynae‑oncology team.
  • Deliver education, professional development, and assist in research and quality improvement projects.
  • Work alongside clinical colleagues to reduce waiting times, provide resilience to the service, and improve patient experience.
  • Review patients undergoing active treatment, manage treatment‑related toxicities, and assess treatment response using agreed protocols.
  • Provide clinical leadership to clinical nurse specialists, resident doctors, and trainees within the team.
  • Offer expert opinion and oncological advice to other specialties as required.
  • Collaborate with consultant medical staff to develop and deliver education and training to other staff, and help develop SOPs and guidelines relevant to the sub‑specialty.
  • Actively contribute to clinical research, audits, and service developments to meet increasing demands and complexity.
  • Lead practice and service developments, ensuring the maintenance of clinical excellence, underpinned by evidence‑based practice.
  • Influence, deliver, and shape the development of multi‑professional education and training locally and nationally.
Qualifications
  • Advanced and expert level practice as a health care practitioner in oncology nursing.
  • Highly developed expertise and experience in gynae‑oncology.
  • Eligibility to undertake complex audit projects and research methodology designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide expert practice, advice, and consultancy for patients, carers, and colleagues.
