Job description

This role is for a natural negotiator, who loves a challenge, and 100% committed to putting the time and effort into their development and progression. In turn, they will receive coaching and mentoring from some highly skilled and knowledgeable buyers, receive varied training such as: stock replenishment, negotiating supplier discounts, category management, covering different categories from beers, wines and spirits to dry goods.

The Role:
Should have experience with interacting with overseas based suppliers. This does not have to be country or food product specific.
They should have experience negotiating and monitoring product pricing,
Work on new product development (NPD) projects both client branded and supplier own brands.
Be able to find and negotiate with alternative suppliers for existing products.
Have some food regulations knowledge.
Be able to negotiate on and discuss at with some experience marketing budgets and activities
Work as a team with both senior and junior colleagues
Be organised and able to keep details notes and records.
Knowledge of import procedure and costing will be an advantage.
Have the willingness to move away from their core competency and embrace challenges
Be able to work under pressure and to timelines
Be able to delegate and ensure all aspects of the buying process are being covered and progressing.
Have a good eye for and or be willing to develop knowledge for products in our sector.
Working with suppliers based in Asia, does require working at times out our hours working. Predominately early AM.
The senior buyer has a good level of discretion, and they should know how to use it to help create and strengthen relationships with suppliers and partners. For the long-term benefit of the
company.
Overseas travel is part of the role. Senior buyer must be able to organise, stick to tight schedules and control costs for any such trip.

You:
Ideally you will have experience of new product development procurement growing the listings / SKU's within the company portfolio
May have additional language skill (Asian as an example)
Knowledge of suppliers in South Asia (Vietnam or Philippines) would be advantageous
Experience in brand development, exhibitions, and launches
Ability to travel oversea
