Multi-Skilled Engineer - FTC

About the Multi-Skilled Engineer role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your role will involve supporting all engineering activities by liaising with internal departments to carry out installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain site electrical and mechanical equipment related to machinery, buildings, support services, and utilities, ensuring compliance with legislative standards, safety, and business requirements.
  • Perform reactive maintenance on plant breakdowns and ancillary equipment to minimize production downtime, along with proactive machine maintenance according to the schedule.
  • Identify areas for improvement, collaborate with the engineering team to implement solutions, and assist with occasional installation tasks, primarily focusing on machinery uptime maintenance.
  • Ensure planned maintenance tasks are completed safely, cost-effectively, and in accordance with standards and timelines, without compromising food safety or health & safety regulations.

Candidate requirements

  • Engineering qualification such as an apprenticeship with HNC, ONC, or equivalent, with experience in electrical or mechanical engineering within food manufacturing.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical control and instrumentation faults quickly.
  • Experience working safely, with knowledge of permit-to-work procedures; IOSH certification is preferable.

Additional details

The Multi-Skilled Engineer position (ref: 8875) offers a salary of £42,000 - £48,000 depending on experience. It is a fixed-term contract for a minimum of 6 months.

The site is located in Kent and is accessible from Paddock Wood, Tonbridge, Pembury, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, and nearby areas.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, rotating weekly between 6:00 am – 2:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
