Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform preventative and reactive maintenance in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate should have a background in mechanical/electrical engineering and experience with machine setup using SMED. Qualifications

Role and Responsibilities

Principal accountabilities shall include but not be limited to:

  • Work consistently within the remit of all company policies and procedures (Health and Safety, Quality, HR, & Environmental).
  • Ensure full compliance with the Company’s quality and environmental standards (ISO 14001, etc.) and applicable legislation (HSE, waste, COSHH, etc.).
  • Carry out process setup of equipment and assist in all SMED activities as requested.
  • Perform planned maintenance and reactive maintenance when required.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with production supervision to ensure the smooth running and availability of plant and equipment.
  • Support and engage in continuous improvement projects and promote best operational practices for sustainability.
  • Promote best H&S practices by coordinating audits and reviewing SOPs.
  • Help reduce accident statistics proactively.
  • Complete project works as assigned and on schedule.
  • Participate in audits, SOP reviews, quality, and incident investigations to promote best practices.
  • Occasionally work at other Bridon sites as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • Educated to City & Guilds level or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with machine setup and adjustment using SMED.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical disciplines, including PLCs and basic programming skills.
  • Ability to fit and assemble metal parts, tools, or sub-assemblies, and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Experience of at least 2 years in preventative maintenance in a manufacturing environment, with effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • Understanding of HSE and Quality policies and their practical application.
