Job description
Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Motion Designer to join our creative team and produce high‑calibre motion work for premium, blue‑chip clients – with a focus on motorsports and Formula 1. The ideal candidate combines top‑tier technical execution with strong visual storytelling, 3D capability, and direct client‑facing experience. You will work across content, and experiential / outdoor events, collaborating closely with producers and client teams to deliver impactful, on‑brand experiences.

This role is office‑based in Wheatley, Oxfordshire.

About Us

At Sport Signage, we bring over 80 years of expertise in delivering top‑tier branding and advertising solutions for the world of sports. Our global reach allows us to handle large‑scale projects in fast‑paced environments, far beyond just signage. From concept to completion, we bring together a team of highly skilled professionals to deliver high‑quality projects with impactful visual and branding experiences. We have contributed to numerous high‑profile events, including Formula 1, the Superbowl, and many others. As we continue to grow, we’re excited to face new challenges head‑on.

Key responsibilities
  • Be able to lead end‑to‑end motion projects from concept through delivery: animatic, design, animation, compositing and final renders.
  • Translate strategy and creative briefs into clear motion solutions that meet client objectives and technical constraints.
  • Produce high‑quality 2D and 3D motion assets (brand films, product demos, social cutdowns, event screens, environmental animations).
  • Maintain and evolve visual systems (typography, motion language, colour, transitions) across client portfolios.
  • Present work confidently to management, clients and agency stakeholders; complete feedback, revisions and sign‑offs.
  • Work with management to scope projects, estimate effort, plan render schedules and provide accurate delivery timelines.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in compositing, renders and delivery formats; ensure files meet technical and broadcast standards.
  • Mentor junior designers and help maintain best practices, templates and pipeline tools.
  • Where relevant, support on‑site or remote setup and operation for outdoor / experiential installations and events (will include international travel).
  • Have excellent English communication skills and a positive attitude to resolving problems, whilst operating under pressure in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple projects concurrently.
Required qualifications & experience
  • 5+ years professional experience in motion design with demonstrable senior‑level craft.
  • 5+ years hands‑on experience with Adobe After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • 3+ years experience working in Cinema 4D with Octane and/or Redshift rendering engines.
  • A strong showreel / portfolio that includes work completed for blue‑chip companies (agency or inhouse) – showreel must demonstrate both creative and technical authorship.
  • Direct client‑facing experience: presenting work, managing feedback and maintaining professional client relationships.
Technical skills (must haves)
  • Advanced After Effects: expressions, parenting, precomps, motion graphics workflows and compositing.
  • Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop: high proficiency in preparing and adapting vector / raster assets for motion.
  • Cinema 4D: modelling workflows, scene layout, texturing and lighting.
  • Octane and/or Redshift: materials, optimisation, render settings and efficiency for tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with standard codecs, delivery formats and file management for broadcast, web and large‑scale LED screens.
  • Comfortable working with version control for assets, and hand‑over formats (project files, layered renders, EXR / Zips, LUTs).
Desirable skills & attributes
  • Experience producing content for outdoor / experiential events and LED screens.
  • Basic 3D scripting or pipeline automation (Python, C4D scripting) — a plus.
  • Strong editorial sense, timing and storytelling ability across different platforms and durations.
  • Physical build knowledge of outdoor / experiential events.
What we expect to see in your application
  • CV with relevant experience and responsibilities.
  • A concise showreel (2–3 minutes preferred) demonstrating recent commercial motion work for blue‑chip clients.
  • Portfolio or case studies that clearly state your role on each project (lead designer, compositor, 3D artist, etc.) and the tools used.
  • Brief cover note explaining why you’re a fit and highlighting any experiential / event work.
  • Availability and salary expectations.
Why join us

You will join a creative team that works with premium motorsport brands and complex briefs, where your technical capability and client experience will have direct impact. The role offers opportunities to produce major campaign work, influence the motion design pipeline and contribute to high‑profile experiential productions.
