A tech startup in Camden Town seeks a Mobile Software Engineer to join its R&D team. This role involves building responsive user interfaces and contributing to design decisions, using modern technologies like Kotlin, Swift, and TypeScript. Candidates should have a solid foundation in development, an eagerness to learn, and strong problem-solving skills. This position includes competitive salary and equity options, with a collaborative, in-person work environment mostly in London.
Do you want to join the (very) early stages of a technology company that’s got huge ambition and vision, as well as the backing to make it happen? At Antare, we’re utilising our industry knowledge to create innovative products that we believe will disrupt the market. This is a complete greenfield opportunity to be part of a product roadmap from day one, the rest remains in stealth.
The team founded Antare in 2024 comprising product designers and engineers - some of whom have worked together for over 15 years. Together, the companies we have built have been collectively acquired for billions of dollars: we have a genuine level of success under our belts that you could help to contribute to. Today, we’re a small, hands‑on team spanning product design, finance, hardware, and software engineering.
This is a rare chance to join a startup at the very beginning - where your curiosity, ideas, and input will directly influence the product roadmap. You’ll be working closely with a small, experienced engineering team, building real features in a modern frontend codebase from day one.
We care deeply about helping early‑career engineers grow fast and with confidence. You’ll benefit from hands‑on mentorship, regular feedback, and the chance to pair with engineers who’ve built products at scale. It’s a high‑trust, low‑ego environment designed to help you accelerate your skills while contributing meaningfully.
We’re using modern technology stacks across our infrastructure and frontend, and AI‑assisted tooling to move fast and stay focused - and you’ll be an integral part of shaping both the user experience and the engineering foundations as we scale.
As a Mobile Frontend Software Engineer, you’ll join a small and growing R&D team focused on building ambitious new products from the ground up. You’ll work on real product features, contribute to design and development decisions, and grow your technical skillset by collaborating with a supportive team of experienced engineers.
For this role in particular, we’re looking for someone who can help drive our mobile app strategy, balancing maximisation of re‑use of existing code with creating a first‑class mobile experience. We’re looking for someone who is excited to learn, ready to get stuck in, and is comfortable asking questions. You’ll have space to grow, and we’ll back you with the mentorship and feedback to make it happen.
You’ll be helping to shape the user‑facing experience from the ground up. We’re building rich interfaces that handle media, surface complex data clearly, and feel fast and responsive. There’ll be a strong focus on visual polish and aesthetics, but also on practical tools to make development more efficient, including generated code and AI‑assisted workflows to help us move quickly without sacrificing quality.
Build and iterate on responsive, accessible, scalable and performant user interfaces.
Continuously improve our frontend architecture, tools, and practices.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and deliver new features.
Optimize code for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
A solid foundation in web or mobile development, through strong academic study, or hands‑on projects.
Interest in multiplatform development, e.g. Capacitor, ReactNative, NativeScript, Kotlin Multiplatform, Swift for Android.
Interest in modern frontend technologies (e.g., Vue, React, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose).
A desire to learn fast and build products that get used.
Strong problem‑solving instincts, initiative, and attention to detail.
Great communication and a collaborative approach to working with others.
Our tech stack
The main technologies we use are listed below, if you’ve not used them we’ve listed similar experience that would be useful:
Android and iOS, using Kotlin and Swift. Java and Objective‑C experience are also relevant.
TypeScript. Experience with any other strongly typed language is also OK. JavaScript experience is also totally fine — and comes with our deepest sympathies.
Vue 3. Experience with React or Vue 2 will transfer directly.
Bun. If you have experience with Node and package managers like pnpm, Yarn, or npm, that’s more than sufficient.
Ideal candidates will have strong mobile and web experience, and be keen to pick up new technologies as needed. We don’t expect you to know everything already — we’re happy to support your learning on the job.
We believe that diverse perspectives make better products, and we strongly encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds in tech to apply. If you’re unsure whether you meet every requirement, please still reach out - we’d love to hear from you.
Join Antare in London and contribute to a team that’s creating the next generation of innovative products. We offer a competitive salary, equity options, and healthcare, along with the opportunity to build a product that makes a real impact.
While we offer some flexibility, we’re primarily an in‑person team (3-4 days per week) - at this stage of the company, we’ve found that collaboration and ideation happen faster and more naturally when we’re in the same room.
