Our Building Services division provides complete Facilities Management of properties throughout the UK, delivering mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering and grounds maintenance on a planned and reactive basis. We use innovative technological solutions to manage our teams in the most efficient ways.

We are looking for an Mobile Electrician to join the team on our Kent County Council project based in West Malling, Kent.

The purpose of this role is to act as Skanska’s first-line representative across multiple sites, delivering planned, breakdown, and emergency maintenance of electrical services throughout the estate. You will take a leading role within the Engineering discipline on specific subjects or work areas, undertake installation work for new or refurbishment projects, and provide cover for the team leader when required.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain, repair and install a wide range of electrical systems including power distribution, motors, control panels, lighting and critical low‑voltage networks, ensuring work meets current IEE standards and codes of practice.
  • Deliver high-quality planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs, including inspection and testing programmes for fixed plant and portable equipment in compliance with BS7671 wiring regulations.
  • Diagnose faults on complex electrical systems, liaise with supervisors on plant/equipment failures, and determine required spares or components to complete works efficiently.
  • Follow engineering drawings/specifications for complex installations, ensuring accurate documentation updates via record sheets or CAFM systems to maintain asset data integrity.
  • Lead or support project work such as modifications (e.g., boiler control systems), co‑ordinating between clients and supply chain partners to deliver technically sound solutions.
  • Provide training support for colleagues undertaking electrical work while actively monitoring tasks in CAFM to meet deadlines, prevent service failures, and uphold health & safety compliance (including asbestos, legionella & COSHH).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) plus 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Completion of a structured Electrical Engineering training programme (minimum 3 years).
  • Full UK driving licence with experience working across multiple sites.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to co‑ordinate tasks effectively and deliver excellent customer service.
  • IT literate (MS Office & CAFM systems) with good numeracy and administrative skills.

Working hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday (typically 08:00–17:00). Participation in the on‑call rota required.
