BERMUDA. SENIOR PSYCHIATRIC NURSE / MENTAL HEALTH OFFICER

IMS is seeking experienced A SENIOR MENTAL HEALTH NURSE / MENTAL HEALTH OFFICER (experience in management is required).

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provides first line crisis intervention service. Assesses service user’s mental, physical and emotional state and refers to the doctor when necessary
  • Ensures that referrals are screened and assessed appropriately and determines the degree of urgency
  • Provides social liaison and support services for service users at MWI and their families
  • Attends ward rounds and participates in treatment and discharge planning
  • Conducts home assessments and arranges hospital admissions when necessary and adheres to legal requirements of the Bermuda Mental Health Act
  • Promotes mental health education to consumers and the public
  • Provides a 24 hour ‘on-call’ service for psychiatric emergencies in the community
  • Supervises subordinate nurse personnel and acts as preceptor for community personnel
  • Assists in providing performance appraisals as well as clinical supervision for the Community Psychiatric Nurses

Requirements

  • Current certification in NCI and CPR
  • Eligible for registration with the Bermuda Nursing Council
  • Relocation required
