Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a category C Prison located on the outskirts of Lancaster, Lancashire.

HMP Lancaster Farm consists of 550 males.

Hours and Salary
  • Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week
  • Service is open from 8am - 6pm
  • 37.5 hours can be done over 4 or 5 days
  • One weekend every 6-8 weeks

Salary:

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £33,232 - £40,211 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
  • Assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess using sound clinical knowledge
  • You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a caseload of patients
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job

Qualifications
Essential
  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration

  • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
Desirable
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (not essential)
