Job description

Are you committed to supporting medical professionals and driving quality improvement in healthcare? We are seeking a proactive Medical Appraisal & Revalidation Manager to lead and manage our medical appraisal and revalidation processes, ensuring compliance with GMC requirements and supporting the strategic direction of Velindre NHS Trust.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day management of medical appraisal and revalidation, working closely with Medical Directors, Clinical Directors, and Workforce colleagues.
• Advise on complex issues as a specialist resource for appraisal, revalidation, and GMC licensing.
• Develop and monitor effective processes and systems for appraisal and revalidation.
• Maintain local information systems (MARS, ESR) and facilitate communication and reporting.
• Support and train clinicians and managers on appraisal and revalidation requirements.
• Represent the Trust at internal and external meetings.
• Lead service improvement initiatives and policy development.
• Ensure compliance through systematic audits, reviews, and exception reporting.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and best practice sharing across the organisation.
• Uphold confidentiality and promote open communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GMC revalidation and licensing processes.
• Experience in managing medical appraisal or revalidation programmes.
• Strong communication, team working and ability to influence without direct authority.
• The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
