A growing chemical manufacturing business based in Selby is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join their team. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining and inspecting mechanical systems, carrying out preventative and reactive tasks to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Ideal candidates will possess experience in mechanical maintenance within heavy industry, with a focus on pumps and piping. Qualifications

  • Experience working in a mechanical maintenance role within a heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience fitting, fault finding, and fixing pumps and piping.
  • Apprenticeship trained is an advantage.
  • Health and safety consciousness is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine / preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns as required.
  • Carry out routine inspections and maintenance associated with the plant preventative maintenance system (FSI).
  • Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard.
  • Ensure all H&S procedures, including permit to work, are adhered to.
  • Assist in the preparation / implementation of RAMS, necessary to carry out each task.

The company have been established since 1979 and cover 9 sites across the UK. They supply both bulk and packed chemicals to a variety of industries including agriculture, water, steel production, energy utilities, pharmaceuticals, and homecare products.

Mechanical Fitter Job Role:

Carry out routine / preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
